Errand

The free, open-source Hark. Errand notices what needs doing in your email, like a failing CI run, your Friday dinner order, a bill due or a flight to check in for, keeps your job applications, orders, bills and trips up to date, and gets things done on real websites from one chat. It runs on your computer with the AI you already have, and your data stays yours.

What it does

  • Notices things on its own. It reads new email every 15 minutes and turns what matters into one-tap buttons: fix the failing CI on your repo, reorder your usual on a Friday, pay the bill due this week, check in for tomorrow’s flight, book a hotel you forgot, approve the expense report waiting on you.
  • Trackers that update themselves. Job applications (even the ones you emailed), orders and deliveries, bills and renewals, and trips, built from your email. When something changes you hear about it in the chat and on your phone.
  • One chat for everything. Ask in plain words: order my usual lunch, find remote roles that fit my resume, clean up my inbox. Several tasks run at once and report back.
  • Works real websites. A browser agent signs in, fills forms, compares options and checks out. You can watch it or take over, and it asks before paying, booking or sending.
  • Handles verification codes. When a site sends a one-time code, Errand finds it in your inbox so the task does not stall.
  • Routines, panels, projects and memory. A morning brief, live mini-apps on the home screen, long-running goals with their own documents, and facts it learns about you that you can edit.
  • On your phone too. Turn on Use on your phone, scan the QR code and add Errand to your home screen. It works on the same Wi-Fi, or anywhere with the free Tailscale app.

Install

No admin rights, no Git and no coding. The installer brings its own copy of Node.js if you need it and keeps everything in one folder. Run it again any time to update; your data stays.

Windows

  1. Download Errand-Setup-Windows.cmd.
  2. Double-click it. If your browser or Windows asks, choose Keep, then More info and Run anyway. It is a short script you can read on GitHub.
  3. Errand opens in its own window in your default browser and keeps running in the background, so it can notice things for you. Next time, use the Errand icon on your Desktop or Start menu.

Mac and Linux

Open Terminal, paste this line and press Return:

The free, open-source Hark

Errand does what Hark Pro does: one chat, a browser agent that works real websites, Action Buttons, panels and trackers, scheduled tasks, specialties, memory you can edit, projects, an encrypted vault and approvals. Hark Pro is free with usage caps and costs $20 or $100 a month for more. Errand is free with no caps of its own, open source, and runs on your computer with the AI you choose.

Bring the AI you already pay for

Errand has no subscription of its own. Sign in with your ChatGPT plan (Go, Plus or Pro) or OpenRouter, paste an API key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Groq, Mistral or any compatible provider and let Errand pick the best models, or run a local model with Ollama or LM Studio. Connect more than one and Errand switches to another by itself when one is busy or down.

Private by design

  • It runs on your computer. There is no Zovle server in between.
  • Passwords, cards and API keys are encrypted in a vault, and the AI model only ever sees placeholders.
  • Paying, booking, sending and deleting always wait for your approval.
  • Export or delete all of your data from settings.
